Glacier Girl is a P-38F Lightning. She was recovered in Greenland under 265 ft. of ice after being buried for 50 years. Following a 12 year restoration, this beautiful aircraft - truly a time machine - flew again and appears at air shows and flight museums around the country. I was lucky to see her at the Cavanaugh Flight Museum in Addison, Texas on May 17, 2014. With the exception of FIFI and Diamond Lil she has to be the most beautiful warbird Ihave ever laid my eyes on. I chose to remember my meeting with Glacier Girl by building the Academy 1:48 scale model. Word has it another expedition is being formed to recover more of the "Lost Squadron" from under the ice.
