On February 9, 2011, I had the pleasure of visiting Vought Aircraft in Southwest Dallas. It is there the Vought Center Retiree Club restores vintage Vought aircraft to mint condition. They have a Crusader, Bluebird and even a Flying Pancake.
One of their prize aircraft is an F4U Corsair. It has a 4-blade prop and (amusing) markings for a Korean War-theater Navy Corsair on one side and a Marine Corsair on the other side.
I took some pictures. I came home and started working on a Monogram 1:48 F4U-4 Corsair kit. This is a fun kit and I attempted all the working/moveable parts. The gear retracts but I like posing her wheels-down.
I painted her in glossy dark sea blue and added a coat of Future Floor Polish for extra shine.
I do 3D and awhile back created a 3D WW2 Corsair. With some tweeking to the model and texture maps - along with swapping out the Pacific for Mig Alley, I created a 3D F4U-4 Corsair in the same markings as my scale model.
Time to go fire some 3D rockets!
